About this image:
Mr. Grizzly looking for lunch
Even as a boy, Leo had a knack for finding coins on the
sidewalk or road. This trait came in handy more than once
when "Eagle Eyes Leo" spotted wildlife on the shore. Sitting
back and relaxing on Mad Dog Voyager, Leo suddenly shouted
out "There's a grizzly bear on shore!" With a change in
course, Leo grabbed the camera and started making some
photos. The grizzly bear was pretty relaxed and placid and
hung around apparently working (and walking) through a salad
for lunch. |

About this image:
Mr Grizzly #2
Here's another shot of the same grizzly bear after he turned
around to head back where he came from. Perhaps the grass
was greener where he just was... |

About this image:
Mr. Grizzly #3
The last photo shot (We used our
20D Canon digital with zoom lens for these photos) of
the grizzly bear before we moved on and headed further up
into Muir Inlet. |

About this image:
Mr. Grizzly having a bad hair day?
Before leaving Goose Cove, a Glacier Bay Park Ranger boat
approached us and asked us if we had seen any grizzlies near
Nunatak Cove the day before. It seemed that there was a
grumpy grizzly in the area causing some trouble. As we
neared Nunatak Cove we saw something on the shore. Upon
closer inspection we saw that it was a kayak looking like a
trial version of an open bottom kayak. Later on we spoke
with a Ranger and he explained that a Grizzly had killed a
moose and hid it in the woods about 200 ft / 60m from where
this kayak was located. The day before, some kayakers had
stopped on shore for the night and unknowingly were too
close to the Grizzly's dinner. The Grizzly bear was
none-to-thrilled about these party crashers and vented his
frustrations on their kayak. Fortunately no one (except for
the kayak) was injured. So this grizzly attack was not to
bad. |

About this image:
A nice day for sailing on our CR Yacht 400DS
Even thought the winds were unpredictable and variable in
Glacier Bay Park, Alaska, once in a while a nice breeze
would pick up. Here is Mad Dog Voyager, our
CR
Yachts 400DS, on a broad reach (the wind is blowing from
off of our port (left) corner) cruising through the frigid
waters. |
