Cargo Vessel Dona Ourania on the beach in Holland 1974
About this photo: “Okay, give a little more throttle and I'll try to push you off!”
During the winter of 1974, the freighter Dona Ourania decided to make an unscheduled landing on a beach near Europort in The Netherlands. The Dona Ourania, a cargo vessel, was actually caught in a winter storm and was pushed onto the shore by the wind, ocean swell and waves.

This photo is looking West from Mad Dog's anchorage near the north tip of Scidmore Bay. The sky was a striking blue, cloudless and the water was like glass without a single breath of wind.

This Kingfisher decided to pop in for a visit while we were anchored on our sailboat Mad Dog Voyager in Blue Mouse Cove, Glacier Bay National Park.
